CCRMA, a university program in music techonology, lacked opportunties for students of electronic music to perform electronic dance music, which was a huge part of what bought them to seek a masters degree. Generally concerts were sit down affairs suited to more classical works.
I collaborated with two teammates to create Modulations 2.0, an evening of dance music in a cool industrial space that had more of a party feel. In a 26 hour marathon of work, we moved our 8 speaker surround sound system, helped students set up their installation art, coordinated 8 hours of performances, and served food and drinks with a small army of volunteers to help.
It was a huge success and is now an annual event.
